At APPLEBOX we've ripped out the unwieldy racks and shelving and transformed the 80's fluoro-lit barn-like DVD store into to a small, fresh and funky space. Our entire movie catalogue is online; customers browse in-store or from home or work. We’ve taken the pain out of a 25 year old business model - that is walking around a video store spending 30 minutes trying to find something to watch! We’ve reconnected with what customers want today - ease of use, time efficiency and web visibility. With the VOD revolution coming (slowly) we’ve moved an ageing business model completely online .. all our customers are online members, and we’ve already trialed a download offering of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button .. the future of movie rentals is a mixed model of download and DVD, and we aim to bridge both sides. With 1300 video stores Australia wide, we are looking to franchise APPLEBOX with new franchisees and conversion of existing stores.

Core Team Members

Brother and Sister team. Sarah brings large-project management & roll-out skills (with a background as production manager and art director in both television and film). Simon brings web strategy and IT skills (with a web and logistics & warehousing background). Both share a vision for a unique Retail 2.0 business that fully leverages the web to power and enhance local retail outlets.
