The problem - Near virtually every market is a very large resource of very cheap, very sustainable building material, unprocessed rock, but most builders of infrastructure, landscaping and housing are denied its use due to the difficulty and expense of dealing with irregular-shaped material.
Our unique solution - Our Rocksolver software application will take on the hard part of building with unprocessed rock by solving the 3D jigsaw puzzle and showing the builder where to put each rock, whether it be 20 tonne boulders in a seawall or 20kg rocks for landscaping and housing.
Revenue model - 1st release of a simple 2D version for paving, tile mosaics, photo montage, etc. where the user digitises their 2D objects, uploads that data and pays per simulation. We will provide, for free, a simple smart phone app to digitise shapes. 2nd release will be a 3D version sold by license to an engineering/construction market.
Competitive advantage - Rocksolver is patent pending in Australia, USA and Europe. Rocksolver is a highly differentiated product with significant public appeal.
The team - Malcolm Lambert (BSc hon physics) is the sole inventor of the Rocksolver construction method and has over 20 years experience managing projects ranging from building atmospheric research experiments in Antarctica to designing and building a sustainable house in Tasmania. Peter Douglas (BSc Hon physics) has built a medical technology business into a company with an annual turnover of over $16 mllion. Also working for Intresto as contractors are software engineers with the specialist skills needed to develop the Rocksolver application.
Why Intresto? Unprocessed rock is the world's largest resource of sustainable building material. It is approximately 10% of the price and produces just 10% of the greenhouse gas emissions compared to competing products but it is highly underutilised. Only we have the IT solution to unlock that resource.
