So it's an event listing web application which I call a "Local Event Calendar". Originally it was called Localendar but I wanted to add other features to it so I chose the less specific name, "Localo".
The idea came from my day job where I run an entertainment centre and would have customers come to me days after a big show was on and get angry at me for not advertising the show. I'd have to explain to them that I used every advertising method available and they just didn't SEE IT. So I decided it's time ALL events are listed online. I had been teaching myself PHP for the previous year and a half so I decided I'm going to be the one who builds this service.
I had built a prototype in 3 days and launched an MVP in 2 months, which had people regularly visiting and some people were sending me event details so I could add them to the calendar. I was so excited about it that I got a little too confident, went home and started expanding the capabilities of the site and broke the code. When I tried to fix it I was so overwhelmed by thousands of lines of messy code that I just scrapped the whole thing and redesigned it all again from scratch using a more logical method.
It's now 2.5 years later and I've redesigned it two more times and redesigned the visual appearance about 10 times to come up with what I currently have on my home server.
Right now it's all working on my server and you can sign up, create an organisation, create an event, then view the events, but it needs some of the behind the scenes functionality like editing profiles, google map code, and the help sections need writing up, but I'm hoping I can finish it in a month and launch immediately.
My biggest problems with the site are actually my own focus since I have a day job, and database security. I only use PHP and MySQL so I'm sure I'll need to hire some security experts when I start making money.

I have HUGE visions. Too big to list, but there are other areas I'd like to fix, like local classified, local activities, local organisation databases, local news, all of which will fit under the Localo name just perfectly.
