Nutrafruit’s objective is to create an integrated business supplying ingredients and retail ready value-added products to the global health and nutraceutical sector.

Nutrafruit was established to commercialise a selection of red-fleshed Japanese plum (Prunus salicina), developed by scientists at the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (QDPI&F).

As well as having several traits that are generally desirable in stonefruit (e.g. high Brix, slow ripening, etc), the variety has an exceptionally high anthocyanin content, giving the potential to process the fruit as a relatively inexpensive feedstock of anti-oxidant compounds.

Nutrafruit’s shareholders were brought together because of their combined expertise and capability in horticulture, finance and nutraceutical marketing, ensuring its capability to create a vertically integrated business.
