Coming to America

By Rachel Youens on Friday, September 11th, 2009

Ok, so perhaps concerns about your trunks of royal robes and lion pelts being stolen on the city streets is low on your lists of concerns about coming to America, but as Eddie Murphey’s character in the famous movie learned, the place does have a culture all its own. And the upcoming event by the same name, Coming to America, aims to help learn from other Aussies mistakes in the process of bringing their business into the US and find out what it takes to network and establish there.

Recruiting firm MitchelLake has assembled an all-star cast who will be conversing with the Sydney audience live from San Francisco, including Tristen Langley of Southern Cross Ventures and Ryan Junee of recent Google acquisition, Omnisio. MitchelLake is a regular figure around the Australian entrepreneurial scene, sponsoring Mobile Monday events and backing the invite-only Innovation Bay events. Besides answering audience questions, the panelists will also listen to two pitches and MitchelLake is offering this real-time feedback opportunity for $500.

Although the event isn’t until mid-October, members from Fairfax, Fifth Finger, NICTA and Netus have already signed up to the event.
