Entrepreneurial Ladies Come Together

By Rachel   Youens on Friday, September 18th, 2009

It goes without saying that the entrepreneurial scene, and even more so the tech entrepreneurial scene, is a bit of a boy club. It’s not that they want to keep women on the outs (in fact if anything they’re eager to bring more to the table) but it starts with the fact that women get less encouragement and exposure to technology and web education. University of Melbourne student Marita Cheng has stepped up to solve both of these problems by founding Robogals to teach robotics to girls, and then with her most recent addition: an entrepreneurial women’s breakfast.

The group just kicked off its first meeting this week at Melbourne’s Lindt Cafe, and Marita is inviting entrepreneurial women from all walks to come and bring friends. Marita herself has some made entrepreneurial cred which includes the founding of her own business, Nudge, a mobile service that reminds users about prescriptions and medical care. You can watch her pitch the business in this IPitch video from Mobile Monday Melbourne’s Student Entrepreneurs Week edition.
