Formerly Port 80 Inc., The Australian Web Industry Association brings together businesses and individuals whose life and livelihood live on the web and helps to advance the industry in Australia and educate the general public about the roles of web professionals. If you are in Sydney or Perth and are a AWIA member you may have found yourself at a Port80 night having drinks with some of the cities’ web pros. Last Friday the organization held its annual web awards, voted on by members, recognizing the nation’s top web design and development. This year musician Nick Cave took a surprising sweep of three awards with the Western Australian Museum and Art Centre’s online multimedia exhibit with curator’s notes, Cave’s blog, quizzes, podcasts and more.
