• Mobile site and application developer Front Foot is celebrating the success of its latest iphone app Winning Numbers. According to Front Foot, the lottery app soared to #1 in paid news apps within four days of being entered into the app store. The Winning Numbers app is done in conjunction with 3 Mobile, and Front Foot has also done work with EA Games and Sky Racing.
• Events startup ourevent.info took the top prize RMIT University’s 2009 Business Plan Competition last week. The site, which helps clubs and community groups organise events, manage volunteers and raise funds, was awarded the $25,000 prize at a gala awards ceremony. Team Leader Paul Monks and his colleagues also received a $5,000 International Trade Award sponsored by the City of Melbourne. Other tech winners included design consultancy Greenovate and The KNO project offering social networking and collaboration for artists.
• Sydney business MyNetFone was awarded the information and communication technology prize at the Sydney Business Awards this week, the same prize that Atlassian took in 2008. In the tech space ecruising.com also took the top prize in the tourism category. MyNetFone beat out other Sydney businesses including Ziller, Sentia, Logicall Communications, and Smart Solutions.
• Mobile computer repair company Super Geek inked a deal this week with Queensland-based site DispatchAJob.com.au. Dispatch.com.au is part of a group of sites owned by AVNotes.com including invoiceaway.com.au, kickcrm.com.au and others.
