Creating a startup is a mammoth task in and of itself, but doing so in a weekend is just sheer madness. Nonetheless heaps of startups have pounded their way through two-day of insanity in the name of Startup Camp, creating a full working, marketable product in one weekend. Now the popular Sydney and Melbourne event, organized by Tjoos founders Bart Jellema and Kim Chen, has spread to Canberra and five baby businesses are just preparing to be born.
The Canberra event is being sponsored by the University of Canberra and the Lighthouse Business Innovation Center. According to the Canberra Startup Camp blog, Lighthouse is a new non-profit business center that helps businesses with the commercialization process. Blue Cove Venture’s Nick McNaughton will be part of the panel weighing in on the finished products. And if you happen to be a fan of any of the startups at the end of the weekend, you actually have the chance to purchase some, if not all, of them by auction at the end. So let’s take a look at what Canberra is producing:
