Five of the 14 companies awarded funding in the latest round of AusIndustry’s COMET are tech startups, with innovations assisting in everything from car parts to sports performance. The Commercialising Emerging Technologies grant awards up to $64,000 to businesses with real market opportunity and helps them to seize upon it. Those tech companies in the latest round include:
Track ‘Em
Created by Perth-based company Saleem Technologies, this material tracking and management system combines the power of computers, GPS and RFID tags to manage and track building materials and equipment. Previously known as ProTracker, the technology is already in use by clients including Aurox Resources, Fortescue and Worley Parsons.
Parts All Over
Capitalizing on the passion of car enthusiasts, Parts All Over is a social network and marketplace for the automotive aftermarket. The Victorian businesses facilitates the buying and selling of used car parts from businesses, dealers and individuals from around Australia. According to the company’s website, the database has been under development since 1998 and has over one million OEM and aftermarket parts for 8000 specific vehicle/engine combinations.
Tradeslot
This Victoria-based company has worked with the Australian government in is development of its national carbon market to create SaaS that helps organizations navigate the complicated process of compliance, audits, carbon reduction. The company has already received backing from Microsoft to help with global expansion.
Sports Coaching Software
Coming out of Brisbane, Sports Performance Software Pty. Ltd. has created a suite of coaching software aiding in exercise programs.
Interactive Transport
Sold as SaaS, this French-Australian company has created a management system for automating many of the tasks in the public transit business, including scheduling, vehicle allocation, driver allocation and billing. The service has been available since 2008
