The Kids are Alright

If the only pitching you did in uni was a can of VB into the bin, you’re way behind this busy crew. The Student Entrepreneurs, Agents of Change is an organization run out of the University of Melbourne that aims to culture entrepreneurial spirit and success among students. The organization was behind the Student Entrepreneurs week held at the university earlier this year and their latest event is bringing together universities nation-wide for a pitching competition with cash prizes for the top winners. Now in its second year, IdeaPitch invites students to enter a video pitch for an opportunity to pitch in front of a panel of judges.

Some of last year’s winners include recent women’s entrepreneurial breakfast founder Marita Cheng’s Nudge and brick-and-mortar business Melbourne Op Shop Tours.

The entry phase of the competition has already opened and students are allowed to submit their 2 minute pitching videos until October 2, after which select students move on to a semi-finals round at Melbourne and Monash Universities.
You can watch some of last years entries on the organization’s Youtube channel, and IPitch will be on hand to talk to the winners and learn more about the pitching secrets they’ve learned along the way.
