How to Increase Productivity at Your Workplace?

by Sky Wellington in Business

It is strange how focusing on work is actually harder than the work itself. Everything starts falling into place when your focus is where it needs to be. With access to gadgets like cell phones and the increasing popularity of social media, working without being distracted seems impossible. Low attention span has really affected output and it is definitely something to think about. Maintaining productivity for you as a business owner to help your business be the best version and to boost the cash flow of your business.

We have got some effective tips to help you in increasing your productivity at work. Let’s get started!

  1. Prepare a To-do List

Going with the flow is great, but it is not something you should do when you have to deal with tight deadlines. This creates endless confusion and you just don’t know where to start or where to end. Therefore, prepare a list of things to do every night. Prioritize work according to the deadlines so you can get the best outcome without losing your mind.

  • One Thing at a Time

There are days when multitasking seems like the only option, but avoid wherever you can. Several tasks remain undone in an attempt to finish them all at a time. This is humanly impossible and leads to disastrous outcomes if gone wrong. Figure out what needs to be done first and stick to it till it’s done. You can also dedicate specific number of hours to different tasks, but don’t do everything simultaneously.

  • Identify and Eliminate Distractions

We don’t realize, but sometimes little things are more distracting. For instance, mobile notifications. There should be minimum noise when you are at work and aim to finish off tasks without any delays. Your phone should be silenced when in office and you must inform your peers to not contact you during work hours. You can get in touch with them all when it’s break time.

  • Stay Hydrated

At times we get so involved in work that we forget about drinking water. Eventually, dehydration starts taking a toll on our physical and mental health. Your body feels exhausted most of the time and doing a simple task seems like a never-ending journey. Keep drinking water not just at work, but also at home so your body’s requirements are fulfilled. However, don’t overhydrate because you cannot afford to go to the washroom every five minutes at work.

  • Stretch Your Body

Constantly working on your laptop can cause muscle tension and you start feeling pain around your shoulders and neck. Make exercise a regular part of your routine in order to reduce muscle stiffness. Do some stretching exercises during break time in your office. Just remember that you shouldn’t ignore your body while attempting to get work done before the deadline.

With all that, we recommend everyone to stay optimistic. We all have bad days at work so don’t be bothered if you are unable to work even after trying hard. Sometimes it’s just not in our hands. You can look for leadership challenges by Performance by Design and get a better view of it.
